O + methane in PNAS

Gábor Czakó’s paper on the dynamics of the O + CHD3 reaction appeared in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the U.S.A. (PNAS). PNAS (IF: 9.771) is one of the world’s most-cited multidisciplinary scientific serials. The PNAS paper reports the first ab initio full-dimensional potential energy surface for the O(3P) + methane reaction and provides theoretical support for recent experiments. Czakó’s work on polyatomic reaction dynamics has received a lot of attention, since his studies on the F and Cl + methane reactions were published in JACS (2009) and Science (2011), respectively. Czakó won the Polanyi prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for his recent research achievements.
